Adula and GaultMillau

The top class restaurant BARGA in Hotel Adula was awarded 15 GaultMillau points in 2008 and described as follows:

A warm welcome and top quality food: the „Barga“ is and remains a particularly hospitable place. There is a fire crackling in the fireplace, a pianist is playing pleasantly damped, and “cosy” does not mean “cramped”. Furthermore, the rustic ambient is in no way reflected in the menu, which is classically divided into courses. The guests create their own menu gastronomique from a choice of five dishes each with cold and hot starters, main dishes and dessert. A clever concept!

A lovely tartar from domestic Galloway beef in jellied boiled fillet stock; only the meat was somewhat sparse. There was nothing at all to complain about the generous serving of duck liver praline with a black walnut crust on apple celery salad. The truffles-gnocchi salad with wild mushrooms and the sautéed goose liver on caramelised winter fruits were just as excellent. And the quail with couscous delighted us just as much as the port wine ginger sauce: light and appetising.
